Smolensk State University hosts the international project “Smolensk-Hagen: communication without borders”



     From 12th to 21th October 2019 Smolensk State University receives a return visit from a youth delegation from the city Hagen (Germany).
     Our university took part for many years in the implementation of partnerships in the field of education and youth exchange between the twin cities Smolensk and Hagen. In 2016 and 2018, students of the Philological Faculty at Smolensk State University had the opportunity to visit Hagen. In October 2018, the partnership of Smolensk and Hagen in the field of youth exchange received recognition at the International Youth Forum of Twin Cities in Russia and Germany in Hamburg.
      The international project “Smolensk-Hagen: communication without borders” is held for the second time in Smolensk. The program of the project is aimed at stimulating intercultural and social communication among the young people in Russia and Germany, establishing friendly contacts between representatives of student circles and youth of Smolensk and Hagen.
      During their visit, guests from Hagen had the opportunity to get acquainted with our educational institution, visited the Administration of the city Smolensk and met with the Deputy Head of the city Smolensk in the social sphere T. Maksimchuk. They also took part in a quest-tour through Smolensk and other intercultural events, visited the Information Center for Nuclear Energy.

      The organizer of the project is the Department of German Language of Smolensk State University –headed by Associate Professor R. Belyutin. A number of trips were planned for the project participants. The representatives of the youth delegation of Hagen will get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the city Smolensk and the Smolensk region, visit the homestead of A. T. Tvardovsky in Sagorie and the homestead of M. K. Tenisheva in Flenovo. Our guests will have an excursion to the company, which has close relations with Germany – “Metro Cash and Carry”.
      Students-volunteers who are studying German at the Faculty of Philology at Smolensk State University take an active part in all activities of the project.
