Arrival of the delegation from Poland


On 26 September in 2012 within the framework of the celebrations devoted to City Day the delegation from Warsaw district Ursynów visited Smolensk State University. The head of the delegation was its Mayor Mr. P. A. Guział. The delegation consisted of the deputy mayor P. G. Machaj, the verkhovna rada deputy of Ursynów A. M. Dmowski, the assistant director of the Warsaw Social Communication Centre L. K. Pawłowski.

The visit of Smolensk State University began with the tour of the campus. The first vice-rector of Smolensk State University N. P. Senchenkov showed them round. Then the guests were shown the nuclear industry information centre. The staff of the Center told Ursynów's representatives how the distribution of basic knowledge about nuclear industry is carried out among the population, what social projects are realized within educational programs. The negotiations on prospects of scientific and educational cooperation from Smolensk State University were headed by its rector E. V. Kodin, who said that Smolensk State University already had positive experience of cooperation with the Polish educational institutions. Besides he told about scientific and educational contacts to the University in Częstochowa, about the collaboration with Lodz University of Technology within the European Union project "Tempus IV".
The Mayor of Warsaw district Ursynów P. A. Guział emphasized that Smolensk State University with every right can be compared to the European higher education institutions.
In general Polish students are positive about Russian higher education institutions and they are ready to integrate into the Russian educational environment. Negative cultural stereotypes are fading, Polish students are open for development of foreign languages and foreign culture space.
The participants of negotiations agreed to assist each other in the questions connected with the stimulation of the academic mobility and the international cooperation in scientific, educational, cultural communication.
